چکیده

To the Editor: Ter Haar et al report a new tool, Autoinflammatory Disease Damage Index (ADDI), to measure damage caused by autoinflammatory diseases. Although this preliminary instrument was for patients with familial Mediterranean fever, cryopyrin associated periodic syndrome, tumour necrosis factor receptorassociated periodic fever syndrome and mevalonate kinase deficiency, we found a great utility also in another auto inflammatory disease (AD), namely hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). HS is a chronic–relapsing, debilitating autoinflammatory disease affecting apocrine gland-bearing skin which is estimated to affect 1% of the population. It is occasionally inscribed into more complex autoinflammatory syndromes, such as PASH (pyoderma gangrenosum, acne and HS), or concurrent with other dysimmune conditions such as Crohn’s disease. HS severity is variously assessed by static scores, such as Hurley’s or

Treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa with infliximab in a patient with Crohn's disease.

BACKGROUND Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic, inflammatory, scarring disease characterized by recurrent flares. Recently, a group of 'autoinflammatory disorders' has been described. These disorders are characterized by recurrent inflammatory episodes not mediated by autoantibodies or antigen-specific T-cells. Some of these autoinflammatory disorders have been successfully treated with anti-...

Hidradenitis suppurativa and familial Mediterranean fever: a report of 6 cases and literature review

Introduction Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is the most frequent monogenic autoinflammatory disease (AID). Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is an inflammatory skin disease characterized by recurrent abscesses and scarring in apocrine gland-bearing areas. HS shares common features with AID including a positive correlation between the increase of acute phase reactants (APR) and the severity of t...

Microbial profile and antibiotic susceptibility of bacteria isolated from patients with hidradenitis suppurativa

Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease of unknown etiology. There is evidence that bacteria may contribute to initiating the inflammatory response in HS patients. To date, data on bacteria found in HS lesions and their resistance rates are rare. Methods: The results of bacterial cultures and antibiotic susceptibility of the isolated bacteria obtained fr...
